ABSTRACT
This chapter orients students to the point of departure of this book, its intention to radicalise the relationship between professorsand students and, most importantly, its intention to replace maieutic or Socratic relations with a new approach to research learning. Specifically, this entails making sure that students understand that they each have a unique perspective on the world that is crucial to the very beginnings of anthropological enquiry.
