ABSTRACT

This chapter connects the orientation given in the first chapter to the practice of seeing the world anthropologically. It operationalises the context that most students will be in, as they read this book: the context of the university itself. In this chapter, students are encouraged to understand the context into which they have only recently arrived as a culture. The chapter helps students to see the university as a culture – as an anthropologist might – and as a context in which to practice the making of uncommon sense.
