ABSTRACT
In this chapter, students are introduced to ethics in anthropology as they operate presently – and students are also introduced also to some important and current critiques of those positions. Ethical work is hard, but perhaps not in the ways that the students think. The chapter relates to how universities form ethics committees, and how informed consent comes to occupy a position that, somewhat ironically, places informants in a victim position relative to anthropological researchers.
