ABSTRACT

The conclusion explores the importance of complex video game narratives like Death Stranding. While the game is punctuated by moments of violence and horror, it ultimately circles back to the idea of hope, that human beings can choose to be better and to form connections to one another. These “strands,” one of the meanings of the “stranding” of the game’s title allow for human beings to survive, even if the point of connection is brief and fleeting, such receiving a package delivery.
