ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at global citizenship, particularly why and how we should teach about global issues. Specifically, we address using a human rights lens and considering cultural context when teaching about global issues. The highlighted lesson centers on the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, focusing on the right to education. In this lesson, students begin to identify barriers that can keep women from receiving an education throughout the world.
