ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will include a literature review of studies, which focuses on the use of inquiry within social studies. While we will mention documents such as the C3 framework and inquiry design model, we intend to go beyond these ideas and explore the literature about using inquiry in the social studies classroom. This chapter upholds the usefulness of inquiry but also identifies the value in supporting teachers to adapt inquiry-based instruction to best meet their needs and make the case for inquiry as an enduring concept, which can be adopted internationally.
