ABSTRACT
The second facet of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), content knowledge, is the understanding of the material being taught. Because you can’t teach what you don’t know, this chapter discusses how teachers can develop their own PCK as they plan and implement instruction. We will also consider how teachers can gather student sources other than textbooks to help them develop background knowledge in order to complete the inquiries.
