ABSTRACT

Radio. This chapter examines the different templates for the four main types of radio productions: news, disc jockey morning show, advertisement, and radio play. Each of these categories may blend voices, music, and sound effects to communicate with the listener. News is broken into readers, headlines, and wraparounds with sound bites. The disc jockey morning show focuses on developing segments that are largely adlibbed. Advertisements are presented in a professional format that is used throughout the radio industry. Radio plays are examined as a format that is declining but still offers intriguing scripting lessons.
