ABSTRACT

Virtual Reality. This chapter discusses the development of scripting for virtual reality and the challenges of writing a story for this new immersive format. Virtual reality is first divided into the categories of non-immersive, semi-immersive, and fully immersive experiences. After presenting examples of each level of VR, the chapter then explains the allied concepts of augmented reality and extended reality. The chapter introduces the concept of the genesis point to start a scene, the impact of Field of View and Point of View in a spatial environment, and the utility of creating an If/Then action prompt.
