ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines prophethood and prophetology in Islam, surveying the development of the concept of nubuwwa (prophethood) in the classical period of Islamic theology. It outlines the major issues concerning prophethood and defines the key terms. The issues and terms will be critically assessed and examined. This chapter provides a comprehensive assessment of prophethood in Islam by going through key concepts, figures and their historical development.
This chapter provides an overview of prophethood in Islamic texts and tradition, by considering the concepts in the Qur'an and hadith, and then examining the creedal stipulated aspects related to Muslims’ faith and nubuwwa.
