ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on contemporary discourse and its contentions on prophethood in Islam. In light of modern approaches to kalām and calls for the new ʿilm al-kalām al-jadīd, it surveys trends in thought as well as the key thinkers’ responses. A general typology emerges within which Iqbal and Nursi are contextualised.
