ABSTRACT

The modern era produced some novel approaches towards prophecy in Islam. Muslim scholars retained a rational approach and reconciled some of the traditional proofs of prophecy despite criticisms. A new philosophy of prophethood was possible in the unique representations made by Iqbal and Nursi. They demonstrate the continuing relevance of the institution of prophethood in a rational age. Their prophetologies reflect the unique methods each adopted in defence of the various aspects of prophecy in Islam. This chapter provides a broad discussion around the key findings of the book, develops deductions and indicates further research possibilities in the field.
