ABSTRACT

Developing sustainable aspirations, translating them into action, strengthening affiliations of sustainable groups, and making commitments locally, nationally, and globally can be advanced both individually and in social groups. The steps to be taken, which are discussed here in ten dimensions, always begin with the individual and his or her immediate possibilities. After the first five individual dimensions, the next five are more concerned with social changes, especially in the economy, politics, and law. All dimensions interpenetrate each other, the individual can never act detached from them. All dimensions are interrelated. The ten dimensions should help to give an orientation on essential aspects, to make sure what to think about, to find a starting point for engagements, and proposals for change. Sustainability must be viewed in a complex and holistic way, and every change that is brought about has an impact on all the other dimensions. The compiled ideas should help one to position oneself. They should lead out of theory and not only be discussed but also ideas should be bundled to become practical. In the process, more ideas will emerge and solutions will be fought for if the sustainable path is taken.
