ABSTRACT
It is impossible to predict the future. Nothing in life or sport is a given. This chapter explores the future possibilities for gender, sport and society at a time of unprecedented global and local inequity. An examination into sporting events and spectacle focuses on future possibilities given the importance placed on entertainment and extremities. Furthermore, this chapter documents the progress and development made in sport in relation to networks, advocacy and activism. Considerations are made regarding the future of gender, sport and society and the importance this relationship has to broader debates on equity and justice. This chapter has sought to position sport in a moment, a snapshot of history. The future of sport and its relationship with gender and society awaits us all.
