ABSTRACT
Community requires the recognition that protection stems from practices of care and empathy. This chapter examines contemporary discussions and research into three aspects of university life: employment conditions, mental health and violence. It explores the notion of making students visible: through listening to them, acknowledging their needs, learning from them, protecting them from violence. It puts forth that TI is about the collective act of believing in the worthiness of community, not simply for survival but for advancement.
