ABSTRACT

This chapter examines a few of the unique situations and review specific strategies to address them. Temperaments such as introversion, as well as the complex problems facing twice-exceptional children, often can increase the problems faced by teachers, parents, and children. Extroverts, well suited to the complex social nature of school, often find solace as it appeals to their innate need for social contact. They require more support than their extroverted counterparts in dealing with their behavioral outbursts. Often comprised of public and private personae, gifted introverts typically require built-in periods of solitude. Gifted introverts approach the world from two different perspectives. As a result, many gifted introverts do not realize just how introverted they are something that can lead to explosive behaviors if they have not incorporated opportunities to decompress into their day.
