ABSTRACT

Leadership in groups and organizations carries with it a significant responsibility. There is an equally great potential for harm, as well as empowerment and healing within groups, psychodrama, and organizations. The inherent power in these methods necessitates that facilitators incorporate trauma-informed principles to ensure safe, effective, and ethical practice. The goal of this book is to provide a comprehensive integration of trauma-informed principles with the practice of group work, psychodrama, and leadership. Trauma-informed principles will be presented as core ethical values while organizational leadership will be framed through the lens of group leadership. The synergy of experiential methods from psychodrama and trauma-informed approaches will be depicted as beneficial for all group workers and organizational leaders. This chapter presents an introduction to psychodrama, group work, trauma-informed philosophy, and to the author’s experience with the topic.
