ABSTRACT

MANY a time during the next few days David asked himself whether or not he should tell Mr Feng of Mrs Ting’s strange invasion of his class-room. In the end, however, he decided it would be better to say nothing. This was partly at the wish of the girls, who begged him not to make the affair more serious than it was, and partly because his own rather indolent character led him to hope Mrs Ting would repent of her outburst and leave him in peace. As time passed, and there was no sign of further trouble, he congratulated himself on his good sense and began to breathe easily again.
