ABSTRACT

New methods of fabrication have been exploring the merger between elements and systems as fluid spaces. Reverse engineering of the process of design reveals, first, a form is produced based on certain desired parameters. Second, once the form is produced, then the designer must investigate which system is suitable for building the form in a way that the system of construction is structural as well as ornamental in order to create an aesthetic effect. The transformative relationship between ground and form has been explored through the dissociation of the figure-ground reading of a building. Ground can be explored as an extension in a single surface project or its sectioning in order to accommodate a program in it. In order to create flexibility between the public educational program and the social living room, larger elements are encapsulated into structural tubes that sit within mega-trusses.
