ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates how can chaos influence change processes in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIR)? The FIR will be characterized by automated and relatively autonomous systems at every level in society. This is a daunting thought for most people, because they envisage that most work functions and operations carried out by people today will become redundant in the future. The beginning of the FIR will be characterized by cascades of innovations. These innovations will be based on artificial intelligence, intelligent robots, intelligent algorithms, and intelligent informats. Chaos will arise in the FIR due to cascading innovations entering the various industries and markets. In the chaos typology, it shows how stability and change can exist at the system level, side by side, and at the same time, without the system as a whole breaking down. An important point of the chaos typology is that from chaos, stability and order emerge.
