ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the same track but from a different theoretical lens that draws inspiration in particular from Tim Ingold's thoughts of correspondence in processes of making. It explores how resonating atmosphere in drawings is a way of manoeuvring the uncertainty, picking up on potentials towards future atmospheric urban design. In AutoCAD Sophie starts by drawing what she calls ‘the principle’ that is going to serve as the very foundation of the skirt. The interplay of light and shadow turn out to play a crucial role in the design process, but what is decisive is how it meets the construction. A theoretical counterpart to the nature of Sophie's investigations, which witness a hodgepodge of connections that permeates materials and materiality of the design, is to be found in Ingold's concept of correspondence, that describes a relation to the world.
