ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on strategically important parameters starts with alignment around the Strategy Big Idea that paves the path from Strategy to Execution. Business leaders know that great strategies with great execution produce winning companies. The path from strategy to execution should be energizing and inherently inspirational. Business leaders need to reframe their thinking in order to not only be successful but survive. A large-scale study was published by Harvard Business Review to explain how complex organizations can execute their strategies more effectively. The strategic planning process has received more than its share of criticism, but, along with the budgeting process, it remains the backbone of execution in many organizations. In the great majority of surveyed companies, fewer than 10% of employees reported that they understood their company's strategy. Senior executives are often shocked to see how poorly their company's strategy is understood throughout the organization.
