ABSTRACT

Executing this form the player seems to hold the tiger as he steps forward. Tigers are popularly used in T’ai Chi forms owing to the legends of the friendly relationship between the gentle Taoist hermits and the animals of the forest. The tiger, when tamed, could be ridden on mountainous terrain as well as on the flatlands. It could even leap from cliff to cliff, with the masterful Taoist saint riding aloft with perfect tranquillity.
