ABSTRACT

This chapter will share the questions, considerations, and iterations that went into designing our program. Primarily, we will focus on the building of the schedule. One of the main affordances of online learning is flexibility in time, pace, and place; however, with young learners, we found that consistency is key. We will explore the relationship between developmental ability, social emotional needs, flexibility, and screen time all as factors that informed our program design. Readers will see example schedules, how we handled materials, and what it looks like to staff and lead an online school.
