ABSTRACT
Free education began in the US in the early 1600s. Beginning as one-room schoolhouses run by young women with little training, most schools operated in a similar fashion until the early 1900s. In the US, the physical campuses of most schools serving k-12 as well as most colleges and universities were closed for the school year 2020–2021. The US is behind many industrialized countries in terms of student performance. Teachers are loathe to enter the profession and many drop out after only a short time in the classroom. In general, the main purpose of qualitative research is to provide an in-depth description and understanding of the human experience. Traditional quantitative research follows a deductive approach. Deductive reasoning works from the general to the specific. Qualitative research involves the study of a situation or thing in its entirety, rather than identification of specific variables.
