ABSTRACT

The new edition will update the chapter on how the global trade law rules have been challenged and violated by the US and the response by authoritarian regimes like China that has furthered undermined the justice and human rights principles that were starting to be integrated into the global trade law regimes. Likewise, the new edition will discuss how the global financial institutions like the IMF and the World Bank are facing challenges from major powers who are placing their own national interests over the goal of having a global financial system that can protect the most vulnerable societies and nations. This edition will discuss whether this opens up the greater chances of having more financial crises starting in developing countries and expanding globally.
