ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the impact of states and platforms on the normalization and abnormalization of far-right actors. More concretely, it focuses on the impact of external actors on the visibility and invisibility of the contemporary new right. The role of deplatforming, banning and deplatformization is described from a metaperspective. The focus lies on how external actors shape and reshape the global new right. Including external actors in the description of contemporary global right forces us to understand it as a complex system that is perpetually in motion as a result of internal and external forces.
