ABSTRACT

This chapter brings together and summarises the conclusions of Part 3, most of which was discussed with Joan Robinson during the author’s stay in Cambridge in 1977 and 1980. It also investigates how Robinson’s economic ideas have been received and have influenced the work of other scholars. It is observed that although Robinson often addressed the Marxists, they have hardly discussed her views on the accumulation of capital and on the process of economic growth. It is argued that this is due to her criticism of the labour theory of value, but more importantly, due to her neo-Marxist views that are published in highly abstract and tersely formulated academic papers and books.
