ABSTRACT
In the first section, the life and work of Piero Sraffa is sketched, after which his relationship with Marxism is reviewed, based on published and unpublished evidence. The third section discusses Sraffa’s model, outlined in Production of Commodities by Means of Commodities, followed by the reconstruction of the way Sraffa followed while writing, working on his model. Attention is devoted to the issue that divides scholars about whether or not Sraffa started from Marx.
