ABSTRACT

The most effective school reform initiative is to focus on supporting teachers and administrators who design student-centered schools and classes that include the effective use of social-emotional learning practices (SEL). U.S. schools have always been and may continue to be underfunded. However, an emphasis on student-centered/SEL practices does not require money; it requires a shift in thinking or developing a new mindset that supports learner-centered reform with a sense of urgency.
