ABSTRACT
Politics is defined by the application of power and governmentality to social issues. One of the principal goals of the politically engaged is to crystallize a particular version of morality into law. Political processes constituted the central focus of some of the classic works produced during the golden age of deviance theorizing. Unlike most European countries, the United States has a two-party political system rather than a parliament; currently, third-party candidates hardly ever receive enough votes to garner any electoral votes, let alone win an election. The Alternative Right, also known as the Alt-right, is a term invented by Richard Bertrand Spencer, who heads the National Policy Institute, which coordinates and advances the views of the “white identity” movement, whose members claim to be dedicated to the preservation of Western civilization and an end to policies that foster minority privilege. The Alt-right is “atomized, amorphous, predominantly online, and mostly anonymous”.
