ABSTRACT

Indigenous populations in Latin America face a range of social, economic, and political issues that affect their cultural survival and well-being. Language and cultural preservation are also important issues for Indigenous communities in Latin American countries. At the turn of the twentieth century, Indigenous populations in Latin America often found themselves the targets of governments that wanted to move them out of the way of economic and political development and progress. One of the problems that many Indigenous communities continued to see by the turn of the century was the fact that some groups were in danger of disappearing all together. The film opens in Cochabamba in the year 2000. Many Native Bolivians from the area have heard that a film is being made and that they could be considered for work as extras in the production. The film makers, Sebastián and Costa, are supposed to review all the applicants to see if they could be appropriate for the film.
