ABSTRACT

This chapter serves as an introduction to the book. I begin the introduction by way of biography, outlining in brief detail my personal intellectual journey from classical theism to a more radical theology akin to pantheism or even polytheism. Beyond biography, I survey the wider framework for my approach to theology in conversation with contemporary ideas within the field of study known as “religious naturalism”; outline the basic method for my theological construction—a role-functional philosophy of religion and divinity rooted in performance and connect this to Christ's performance of revelation and redemption in the Christian tradition; and outline the chapters following the introduction.
