ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 enters the cosmos of economic governance by identifying the fundamental features calling for modernised governance thinking by pinpointing the crucial importance of placing the focus on the innovation ecosystem. In an effort to be more specific, Chapter 3 formulates the basic principles of a governance acting under complexity by emphasising that contingency economic governance should offer some sort of directionality in the form of missions in addressing complex exigencies. In addition, a methodological roadmap to such mission-centric analysis is also offered with a warning that complex global exigencies always require context-dependent missions because of their moving-target nature; the methodology should therefore be dynamically adapted, mission by mission.
