ABSTRACT

Drawing from all earlier parts of the book, the conclusion and summary suggests how by utilizing cultural evolution a movement can be formed to expand vegan culture and a vegan economy. Topics broadly covered include food and ethics, participating in a community of animals, and the symbolic behavior of meat eating. Final consideration is given to the physiological and behavioral similarities and differences in terms of food sourcing among modern humans, great apes, and hunter-gatherers. Short- and long-term goals for a vegan economy are recapitulated from earlier chapters with a renewed call for the musical, visual, and verbal arts to engage young people in establishing a vegan culture.
