ABSTRACT
This chapter sets the scene by providing a comprehensive definition of lawfare, and succinctly introduces the various types of lawfare. Further, this introductory chapter shows how this concept has recently become a popular term to describe conflicts in which legal instruments are used to pursue political goals around the world.
