ABSTRACT

Communities are created through shared values, shared passions, and shared needs. This chapter explores the ways that makers of all kinds can create a strong community by focusing on two critical components: finding your focus and finding your people. Using principles from design thinking, this chapter asks key questions to propel artists and companies at all stages of their development: how can you zero in on what you do especially well? How can you find your audience? How can you build upon the audience you already have? To help examine these questions, examples from The Show Must Go Online (TSMGO) demonstrate key principles in practice.
