ABSTRACT

This chapter follows maestro Prisco and his family for the first two years after his arrival in New York. In particular, the first section enables the reader to share Prisco’s feeling of awe in discovering the complexities of American life; the second section follows the maestro in his first steps towards a career in music and teaching, through several interesting encounters; the third section explains how feelings of nostalgia set Prisco on a journey to reposition and reconstruct his Self, particularly while wondering whether to renew his position as music teacher back at Avellino’s Scuola Normale for Girls.
