ABSTRACT

Microteaching is an innovative teacher-training approach. In the field of education, the quality of next-generation learning depends on the quality of teacher and their skills. This chapter introduces an innovative teacher training technique named “microteaching”, a scaled-down teaching approach. The term “microteaching” consists of two separate words “micro” and “teaching”. The theoretical course of teacher education mainly covers philosophy, history, psychology, and sociology of teaching methodology which develops book knowledge and cognitive developmental aspects of teachers rather than behavioral change or practical knowledge. In 1963 during the Secondary Teacher Education Program in summer, Dwight Allen and Robert Bush coined the term microteaching at Stanford University. A cycle diagram depicts the micro teaching cycle. Teaching is one of the most complex tasks in the whole teaching and learning scenario. Reinforcement is one of the major aspects of any effective teaching-learning process.
