ABSTRACT

The theoretical overview of cooperative learning is mainly based on three perspectives: cognitive development, behavioral interdependence, and social interdependence. Techniques of cooperative learning can be categorized in multiple ways, such as discussion, reciprocal teaching, graphic organizers, writing, and problem-solving. Dialogue journal, round table, dyadic essays, peer editing, collaborative writing, team anthologies, and paper seminar are all techniques used in cooperative learning scenarios. As one can find that each technique consisted of several characteristics based on their time on task, group size, duration of the group, etc. From pre-implementation to post-implementation, cooperative learning strategies are a long strategical process. An instructor must care about each stage such as feedback on students regarding their problems, enjoyment, and association with other students, and also important is to provide feedback to the student about their work skills and assignment.
