ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an explicit knowledge of technological innovation in the context of instruction. It also provides more about the global context of the development of educational technology (ET) from the root level of innovation to the application of ET in the context of India. The chapter discusses the innovation of technology in the context of education from the period of the Stone Age to the age of information and communication technology. The innovation of radio and television is an historic point of advancement of technology in the global context. The development of the microcomputer is more recent and one of the most effective innovations in the field of educational technology. The innovation of computers expanded the scope for access to more data from anywhere at a low or no cost. Therefore, this is also called the “Information Age”.
