ABSTRACT

Green HRM focuses on the contribution of HRM at company level in directing firms towards sustainability. Based on several key reports by international agencies such as the United Nations and the Brundtland report issued during the past decades, companies have not just realised the impact of global warming but have also started to move towards sustainability. Supporting this, Green HRM focuses on the micro level (firms), the meso level (industry), and the macro level (national and international). Green HRM has been working in six areas of HRM. These are environmental or green recruitment; green industrial relations; green employees training and development; green performance management; green compensation; and green strategic HRM. Transitioning from non-sustainable business practices towards sustainability inextricably demands organisational change where Green HRM offers four models.
