ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews nuclear educational tenets that are directly addressed when learners actively engage in subtitling and revoicing tasks in the language classroom. The most salient advantages of using didactic AVT are reviewed for primary, secondary and higher education, and sample lessons are offered for every stage along with guidelines for teachers. First, it provides the reader with an overview of the main types of didactic AD and didactic free-commentary, differentiating between intersemiotic for both modes as well as intralingual, and interlingual (the latter only for free commentary). The lesson samples provided in the current volume may inspire teachers and educators working on primary and secondary education to initiate projects and activities that include didactic AVT as a pedagogic resource to boost students achievement in LE.
