ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the work of three educators and activists whose work reaches out from formal educational spaces to deep within communities in India. The communities are varied. Yuvan Aves works not only with schools but also with fisher communities on the coast of the city of Chennai. Nagraj Adve works with trade unions and farmers' groups, and has also co-founded a unique informal coalition of educators interested in teaching climate change through multiple disciplines. Aahana Ganguly teaches at a reputed private university, but spends her summers working with youth in one of the most climate-vulnerable regions of the world: the mangrove forests of the Sundarbans.
