ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on a toolkit which is designed to encourage those who have created their own recovery resources and would like to continue doing so without the structure of the ‘What Could Help' flashcards introduced previously. It details several cards as an examples of how this could be implemented. The sources of inspiration have ranged from trauma specialists, to psychologists, spiritual teachers, poets and mental health advocates. All the individuals visually referenced have a wealth of information that can be accessed online. The Myth of Sisyphus is inspired by clinical psychologist Jacob Ham, who's animation Understanding Trauma: Learning Brain vs Survival Brain reminds educators what they need to hold in mind when teaching traumatised children. Dr Gabor Mate is an author and a renowned speaker whose specialist areas include addiction, the mind-body connection, stress and childhood development. Dr Mate argues the more prevalent the addiction, the deeper the trauma wound.
