ABSTRACT

Both Constantine and Ali have created a ventral vagal anchor image in preparation for EMDR trauma processing. Therefore, both of these examples have been drawn on to illustrate how the method can be shaped and tailored for the individual. Constantine created his Ventral Vagal Anchors image around midway through health professionals working together. It would have been counterproductive to introduce this exercise earlier on as Constantine's feelings of suicidality were prominent so health professionals initially focused on building up a solid therapeutic relationship. Natalie chose to create a larger Window of Tolerance so she was able to have the space required to add all the words which she felt matched her state. The words Natalie chose were a combination from Ogden's emotions and sensation words and personal words she chose herself to describe how she felt when activated by any one of these states.
