ABSTRACT

Curiosity is all about engaging the world with wonder. Learners of all ages need to ask “why” and seek to discover the answers to their questions. Driven by curiosity, they may discover their passion or be able to reflect on their holistic wellness. Through engaging stories, working in classrooms with students of various ages, this chapter explores curiosity through the lens of a substitute teacher. Modeling curiosity, asking “wondering” questions, and empowering the students to be the teacher are all strategies of a sub. How can educators take the insight from a teacher who makes a “momentary impact” and apply it to their teaching all year long?
