ABSTRACT
How does a person make it in the difficult world of theatre? One must learn the art form, overcome fears, face rejection, and take the initiative to keep trying to achieve their dreams. When an obstacle arises in the journey toward a goal, one must take the initiative to overcome it. Initiative is an essential skill in success. Teachers often emphasize the importance of taking the initiative – even going as far as assigning a grade for taking the initiative to participate. In this chapter, teachers are encouraged to include their students in the planning and process of learning, so that they are more inclined to take the initiative in their learning, and therefore have a greater impact on their own growth and within the class.
