ABSTRACT

In chapter four of his book Explore Like A Pirate, Michael Matera, a middle school World History teacher from Wisconsin, explores how Purpose-Driven Learning has allowed him to unlock and empower his students’ social-emotional learning skills in his gamified classroom. In this chapter, educators will hear the story of Mr. Matera’s classroom and his dynamic gamification pedagogy. They will explore how gamification can impact their students and are offered suggestions for taking their first gamified steps. In this chapter, teachers will explore how gamification can be the perfect strategy for building their students’ creativity and creative problem-solving.
