ABSTRACT

Collaboration is at the heart of classroom research, as we describe it, and we prioritize collaborative approaches in this book. We begin this chapter with a general description of collaborative approaches. Next, we describe the qualities of research practice partnerships and frameworks that can support collaborative work with a professional development component. Finally, we examine changes in researcher–practitioner positionality when academic researchers and teachers engage in collaborative research in (and about) classrooms. Throughout, we emphasize how collaborative approaches can support research for the common good framework, and lead to genuine, deep, and dynamic knowledge exchange between researchers and practitioners.
